Welcome

Hello and welcome to the homepage of my allotments, gardens and green space advisory service.  I’m passionate about turning allotments, gardens and all kind of land into something worthwhile, aesthetically and practically. It is fair to say I get a real sense of satisfaction from turning difficult parcels of land into something useful for both humans and wildlife!

I’ve over thirty years of experience in horticulture; as a former Allotments and Horticultural Manager and as an active allotmenteer growing food for my family! As an established garden writer, I’ve written for the gardening press for a number of decades. There is nothing better than the satisfaction of growing your own fresh, tasty fruit and veg. I can show you how to achieve this, in any location, be it; your home, on the allotment or in a container or windowbox!

I enjoy my role as a regional judge for the RHS ‘In Bloom’ campaign. In a decade of judging for the RHS, I’ve seen a wide-ranging number of exciting projects involving; bus shelters and redundant phone boxes turned into wonderful ‘gardens’, churchyards, community gardens, a multitude of inventive school gardens, retail displays, war memorials and numerous parks and roadside verges turned into mini horticultural paradises. I am able to advise on any of these projects and more as required by In Bloom groups, Councils or private landowners. Please do get in touch.

My business offers specialist knowledge to members of the public, Town & Parish Councils, Unitary Councils as well as charities, schools, voluntary organisations, Friends groups, ‘In Bloom’ groups, allotment holders, private landowners and anyone responsible for green spaces such as nature reserves, village greens, verges, parks or gap sites.

A new sensory school garden

I am available on a flexible, ‘as required’ basis to mentor, advise and consult on a  tailor-made package to suit the client. Some examples could be a one-off design or site inspection, or a written report or troubleshooting. Should an allotment authority want to outsource their allotment service to save valuable funds on a temporary or longer-term basis, I’m also available.  Or perhaps you may need a risk assessment or general appraisal or clear direction on how to improve efficiency.  I generally work on a self -employed basis, thus keeping  costs for the authority or client to a minimum. No job is too large or small!

If you are a local authority and your allotment site is losing money or is not being run effectively, I can improve your cost-effectiveness and reduce the drain on the taxpayer.

For a no obligation enquiry on all of my services, please use the Contact tab on the menu above and I will come back to you prompty via return email.
