About Me

I live in Yorkshire and I’m a proud dad to two lovely daughters (8) & (5). They are beginning to get the green fingers bug and I enjoy pottering around the garden and greenhouse with them, seeing them develop their horticultural prowess. Long may it continue!

I’ve written for the gardening press for over twenty years and had a great time doing it! Readers of Smallholder magazine will have seen my own grow-your-won page for a decade and more. I’ve also featured in many other national and regional publications including, Down Your Way, Choice, Towpath Talk and Warcry. Currently I’m the allotment blogger for the highly respected, Suttons Seeds .

In my decade of judging for the RHS I’ve seen a lifetime of amazing projects, transformations, innovation and met some truly wonderful people. Thank you all.

Outside of gardening, I’m a keen walker and have written two walking related books so far. The first one is entitled, Walking in the Aire.  This is a book of 14 short walks up to 8 miles in length, in Airedale, West Yorkshire. My second book is entitled Pennine Way, The High and Lows. This is a humorous account of tackling this iconic 268 mile long walk over 17 days. Please send me a message if you’d like to purchase a signed copy.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing chess, spending time in the countryside and listening to music though not necessarily at the same time!

Please do message me if I can help with any outdoor project.
